About Sport For Unity
This project addresses the priority of inclusion and diversity as it stems from the current social and political situation in European countries to the integration and inclusion needs of a large number of migrants and refugees arriving on European soil. The increase in migrants in recent years has occurred as a result of the rise in the number of war conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
This project has the following general objectives:
- Supporting the inclusion of target groups with fewer opportunities – the target group for this proposal is refugees and migrants, and all activities will be free for all and will be practised in local community areas.
- Supporting active European citizenship and integrating the European dimension at the local level, focusing on raising awareness and understanding of the European Union context, particularly with regard to the EU’s common values, the principles of unity and diversity, as well as its cultural identity, cultural awareness and social and historical heritage. This part will be covered by an educational workshop that each partner will organise on the theme of cultural diversity and inclusion, tolerance and human rights.
- Creating a safe environment where there is no room for discrimination of any kind (directly in line with the acceptance of migrants);
- Link education and sport as a framework for personal, social and learning competences and promote tolerance, solidarity, inclusion, as well as other sporting and EU values.
- Increase participation in promoting an active lifestyle that respects the environment, social cohesion and active citizenship.
