Safeguarding Code for Combat Sports and Martial Arts

About Safeguarding Code for Combat Sports and Martial Arts - Safe Combat

Safeguarding Code for Combat Sports and Martial Arts – Safe Combat was a European project focused on promoting safer sport environments in combat sports and martial arts, where specific risk factors required dedicated safeguarding approaches. The project aimed to raise awareness, provide guidance and support sport clubs, coaches, youth workers and volunteers in protecting young athletes and contributing to their wellbeing, safety and human development.

The project developed a safeguarding code adapted to the realities of combat sports and martial arts, together with an educational system delivered through a massive open online course. It also created a unique European certification system for clubs, complemented by dissemination activities and a final conference with key stakeholders, encouraging other organisations and clubs across Europe to adopt safer and more structured safeguarding practices.
