myfitfriend
About My Fit Friend
My Fit Friend was a European project focused on body image disorders, eating disorders and bigorexia among young athletes and gym-goers. The project responded to a growing health concern linked to the relationship between food, body image, sport and physical activity, recognising that athletes and physically active young people may be especially vulnerable to harmful behaviours connected to weight control, body shape and excessive exercise.
The project promoted a holistic approach to food, health and sport by combining awareness-raising, research and multi-level training for different actors in the sport and physical activity environment. Through web surveys, social media data-based analysis and the creation of a specialised professional network, My Fit Friend aimed to support early identification, better management and prevention of body image disorders, while promoting healthier lifestyles and safer sport practices.
