JIDP

Judo for Intellectual Disability Project – JIDP was a European project focused on using judo to promote the social and cultural integration of adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The project was based on the potential social and health benefits of judo for people with intellectual disabilities and aimed to expand the presence, accessibility and quality of adapted judo programmes across Europe, making them available to a greater number of young people.

The project combined adapted judo practice with a healthy eating strategy and digital support tools to improve the quality of life of teenagers with intellectual disabilities. It also trained adapted judo instructors through training meetings and a virtual platform, creating a cascade effect that allowed future instructors to benefit from the project results. With eight partners from six European countries, JIDP directly supported more than 120 adolescents and trained instructors, while also contributing to future training, dissemination and the wider use of adapted sport methodologies.
