Green Tick

Green Tick was a European project focused on improving the reliability, safety and quality of digital content related to health, sport, nutrition, sleep, exercise, body image, weight loss, diet and physical activity. The project responded to the growing amount of uncontrolled information shared through social networks and digital applications, aiming to help users, content producers and app developers identify and promote trustworthy, verifiable and responsible digital content.

Inspired by the idea of quality control mechanisms in sport, Green Tick developed criteria to assess whether social media content and digital applications related to health, diet and sport were convenient, reliable and safe for users. The project promoted digitalisation, inclusion and environmental sustainability by creating guidelines, training opportunities, reports with good and bad examples, and a Green Tick label to recognise positive practices, while also raising awareness among young people about physical activity and responsible digital engagement.
