United through Urban Movement
About United through Urban Movement – UUM
United through Urban Movement – UUM was a European project focused on promoting social inclusion, mobility and education through sport, with a special focus on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project used the idea of “urban movement” to highlight both physical activity and social movement, showing how sport could bring people together, strengthen participation and create more inclusive communities through accessible urban sports and volunteering.
The project promoted urban sports such as Parkour, Street Workout and 3×3 Streetball as fun, inclusive and accessible ways of being physically active. By involving disadvantaged young people in the organisation of small-scale urban sport events, personal skills development workshops and employability-focused activities, UUM created opportunities for volunteering, learning and community engagement, while also raising awareness about the physical, social and mental health benefits of movement.
