Athletes 4 Society
About Athletes 4 Society
Athletes 4 Society was a European project focused on increasing the public value of sport by empowering sport organisations to use athletes as role models for positive societal impact. Under the theme “Empowering the Public Value of Sport through Athletes as Role Models”, the project aimed to inspire, support and stimulate sport organisations to develop policies, campaigns and programmes that connected athletes’ visibility and influence with meaningful social change.
The project explored how athletes and elite sport were perceived by the public across different countries, while also supporting sport organisations in managing and creating public value more effectively. Through the development and testing of the Athletes 4 Society toolkit and boot camp, as well as the launch of the European Athletes 4 Society Challenge, the project promoted practical approaches for using athletes’ voices, stories and actions to strengthen the societal impact of sport.
