Child Obesity Youth Exchange

About Child Obesity Youth Exchange

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worldwide and in Europe, the number of overweight or obese infants and young children up to the age of 5 has increased from 32 million to 41 million during the same period. The researchers analyzed the data by closely examining the prevalence of overweight and obesity in children aged 2-19 years and, as a result, revealed that there has been an ever-increasing trend of obesity since 1999. Between 2015 and 2016, it was determined as a result of studies that there were significant increases in young children aged 2 to 5 years and young girls aged 16 to 19 compared to previous years.

While this project aims to raise awareness about the fight against child obesity, it wants to achieve this goal with the efforts and worldviews of young people from different countries. In other words, our project was founded on two main objectives, “on-topic” and “general”:

The first of these is to contribute to the emergence of social responsibility awareness that will combat the content, causes and consequences of child obesity and the factors that cause this disease.

The second is to develop the individual competencies of young people by using different country cultures, young ideas, and perspectives to achieve this goal and to establish a tolerant cultural environment by combating prejudice.

This Learning Moblity aims are:

  • To conduct research on child obesity, to obtain data from these studies
  • To examine the factors that cause child obesity one by one
  • To share the data from these researches and analyses with the target audience and create social awareness in the fight against child obesity
  • In this context, we aim to create an exemplary project on child obesity, in which there are fewer projects and research compared to studies on obesity in general, and to encourage the increase of voluntary work on this subject and to ensure cooperation with non-governmental organizations and official institutions
