About Sport For Unity
Sport For Unity was a European project focused on inclusion, diversity and the integration of migrants and refugees into local communities through sport and education. The project responded to the social and political challenges faced by European countries as a result of increasing migration flows, especially those linked to conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, by creating accessible activities that promoted participation, respect and social cohesion.
The project used sport as a safe and inclusive space where refugees, migrants and local communities could connect, learn and participate without discrimination. Through free local activities, educational workshops and sport-based learning, Sport For Unity promoted European values, cultural diversity, tolerance, solidarity, human rights, active citizenship and environmentally responsible lifestyles, while strengthening the role of sport as a tool for personal, social and community development.
Main Objectives
- Supported the inclusion of migrants, refugees and people with fewer opportunities;
- Created safe and discrimination-free environments through sport and education;
- Promoted active European citizenship and awareness of EU values;
- Encouraged cultural diversity, tolerance, solidarity and human rights;
- Connected education and sport as tools for personal and social development;
- Increased participation in active lifestyles and community-based sport activities;
- Strengthened social cohesion, inclusion and environmental responsibility at local level.
