Schoolyard Games
About Schoolyard Games
Schoolyard Games was a European project focused on collecting, preserving and sharing traditional games played by children during school breaks and before or after school. The project paid special attention to games that promoted inclusion, gender equality, cultural values and physical activity, creating a practical resource for coaches, teachers, parents and children who wanted to bring more intercultural, active and inclusive activities into schools and grassroots sport.
Over 18 months, the partners collected and filmed traditional schoolyard games, creating an online video library with clear instructions, rules, variations, necessary equipment and communication elements. The project also developed a website where organisations and individuals could register, interact and upload new content, while dissemination activities, social media communication and a network of project ambassadors helped ensure the visibility, sustainability and long-term use of the results.
