Building an Inclusive Atitude in Sport

Building an Inclusive Atitude in Sport – BIAS was a European project focused on promoting the inclusion of children with intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder through judo, martial arts and inclusive sport practices. The project aimed to move beyond the idea of adapting activities only for individual children and instead focused on the whole sport class, encouraging coaches, organisations and participants to understand how inclusion could be taught and practiced through sport.

The project supported the exchange of methodologies and good practices between partners from Italy, Portugal and Ireland, with a strong focus on inclusive training sessions open to local stakeholders, sport organisations and families. Through practical activities, shared learning, video materials and social media dissemination, BIAS promoted martial arts as a tool for participation, social inclusion and awareness-raising around the needs and potential of children with intellectual disabilities and ASD.
