Sports4Cancer
About Sports4Cancer
Sport4Cancer was an international non-profit sporting event dedicated to promoting physical activity, social inclusion and quality of life among cancer patients, survivors, their families, supporters and the wider community. Taking place in the Region of Murcia, Spain, the project brought together participants and delegates from different European countries, selected for their cultural, geographical and climatic diversity, while also involving the local community, tourists and more than 100 volunteers, the majority of whom were women.
The project supported the European Commission’s efforts to address physical inactivity and social exclusion among cancer patients and survivors through sport and educational activities. By combining adapted sport activities, awareness-raising actions and the scientific workshop “Sport4Cancer”, the event aimed to reduce physical and social barriers, encourage long-term participation in physical activity and promote a more inclusive society, with particular attention to people affected by cancer, women affected by breast cancer and people with disabilities.
