Reverse Mentoring in Sports for Next Generation's Sporting Success

About Reverse Mentoring in Sports for Next Generation's Sporting Success - ReMentoring in Sport

Reverse Mentoring in Sports for Next Generation’s Sporting Success – ReMentoring in Sport was a European project focused on improving the skills of coaches and sport managers in response to the changing needs of younger generations of athletes. The project addressed the gap between experienced coaches, many of whom belonged to older generations, and Y and Z generation athletes, who often required new approaches in communication, motivation, technology and digital tools in sport.

The project used reverse mentoring as an innovative method to support coaches in developing next-generation coaching skills and adapting to modern sport environments. Through international training activities in Türkiye, Portugal and Bulgaria, as well as European Week of Sport events in each partner country, the project strengthened cooperation between sport organisations, promoted innovative coaching practices and supported the professional development of trainers, coaches and project staff.

Main Objectives

    • Increased coaches’ skills in communication and motivation for working with new generations of athletes;
    • Strengthened trainers’ competences in using technological tools and digital applications in sport;
    • Supported sport managers and trainers in developing innovative applications to improve sport quality;
    • Implemented reverse mentoring approaches in sport activities across partner organisations;
    • Promoted international cooperation and exchange of good practices in coaching;
    • Improved project preparation and implementation skills among project staff;
