About Ecological Sport
Ecological Sport was a European project focused on raising awareness among young athletes, mentors and sport organisations about climate-friendly actions that could be adopted during sport activities. The project responded to the need for more sustainable practices in sport by collecting good practices from several countries and showing how athletes and organisations could contribute to environmental protection through small, practical and replicable actions.
The project developed an innovative communication and educational tool based on short videos, designed to be accessible, easy to share and adapted to modern digital communication. Over its 24-month duration, Ecological Sport collected examples of environmentally responsible behaviours in sport, transformed them into practical learning materials and disseminated them through online platforms, social media and the project website, contributing to the goals of the European Green Deal and the European Year of Youth.
Main Objectives
- Raised awareness about climate-friendly actions in sport;
- Identified and shared good practices for protecting the environment during sport activities;
- Supported young athletes, mentors and sport organisations in adopting more sustainable behaviours;
- Developed short educational videos as practical and accessible learning tools;
- Promoted environmental responsibility among children and youth sport groups;
- Disseminated good practices through websites, social media and digital platforms;
- Contributed to European priorities related to sustainability, youth participation and the Green Deal.
