About Jita Kyoei 2
Jita Kyoei 2 was a European project focused on promoting awareness, education and support among sport clubs, coaches and young athletes through the values of judo. Inspired by Jigoro Kano’s principle of Jita Kyoei, meaning mutual welfare and benefit, the project highlighted the importance of harmony, cooperation, respect and shared prosperity in increasingly multicultural societies.
The project used sport, and judo in particular, as a tool for personal and professional development, social learning and community building. Through the cooperation of sport clubs and organisations, involving project managers, researchers, experts, trainers and technicians, JITA KYOEI 2 supported the development of values such as respect, discipline, perseverance, inclusion and problem-solving, helping young people and coaches contribute to a more respectful and cooperative society.
Main Objectives
- Promoted the values of judo as tools for social and personal development;
- Raised awareness about respect, cooperation, discipline and perseverance;
- Supported the personal and professional development of coaches and young athletes;
- Encouraged acceptance of diversity and mutual understanding in multicultural societies;
- Used sport and judo to build character, focus and problem-solving skills;
- Strengthened cooperation between sport clubs, organisations, trainers and experts;
- Contributed to the creation of more inclusive, respectful and supportive sport environments.
