About Seniors Active at Home - SENATE
Seniors Active at Home – SENATE was a pilot project focused on promoting physical activity among older adults through digital technology. The project aimed to bring structured exercise sessions into the homes and assisted living facilities of elderly people, helping them increase their daily physical activity levels and improve their overall health, especially among those with low access to regular physical activity opportunities.
The project combined digitisation, health-enhancing physical activity and social inclusion by developing a mobile application adapted to the needs of different groups of older adults, including those living independently, institutionalised seniors, people with digital skills and those with limited digital experience. Through research, co-design with senior adults and a large pilot phase, SenAte tested an evidence-based home exercise programme and promoted intergenerational engagement by involving younger relatives in supporting the use of the app.
